Hi, I’m Katy Mayer and I’m Reign Tolbert’s mom. Reign was born last week on 10/29/25 at 9:05pm weighing 8lb 1oz and 22in long. On Tuesday I took him to his first well child checkup appointment. He stopped breathing at that appointment and had cardiac arrest. He was rushed over to the ER and after a long ten minutes they were able to get his heartbeat back and get him stabilized. He was then life flighted over to Children’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky where we met him. We found out he has a genetic metabolic disease called Fatty Acid Oxidation Disorder. He fought very hard but overnight Tuesday into Wednesday he started rapidly declining and we decided to put him on life support. After many long hours of him fighting very hard, we decided to take him off life support as he didn’t have any brain activity, and he had a few failing organs. He passed peacefully, and surrounded by so much love, in my arms at 8:25pm on 11/5/25, which was supposed to be his due date. He brought everyone he met so much love and joy, and he will be deeply missed.
