Honoring Raymond Schneider’s Legacy

Donation protected
Raymond Schneider passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 7th, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and love. Born on July 22, 1971, in Arlington Heights, Illinois, Raymond was raised in Streamwood and graduated from Streamwood High School. After the loss of his father in 1991, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served honorably before returning home. Raymond found his calling in the Operating Engineers Union, where he took great pride in his work, often saying, “I get to play in the dirt.”

Raymond’s life was defined by his dedication to others. He was an officer in the Elgin Elks, volunteered countless hours, led his sons’ Boy Scout troops, and coached baseball for the Geneva Baseball Association. It was during his years as a coach that he met Michele Podraza Hall, who would become his partner in life. In 2019, Raymond and Michele moved to Cape Coral, Florida, to build a home together, welcoming Michele’s children, Ryan and Brooke, and later Raymond’s youngest son, Matt, and his girlfriend Olivia. Raymond quickly became a beloved member of the Cape Coral community, volunteering with Cape Coral Logistics, CERT, Team Rubicon South Branch, and the Cape Coral Power Squadron. For the past two Christmas seasons, he brought joy to foster children as Santa at the Cape Coral Fire Department’s Breakfast with Santa.

Raymond also became a member of the North Cape Boaters Alliance, where he became my close friend and supporter. He was a regular supporter of Cape Coral Talk Radio, always found in his front table seat every Friday evening with lovely Michele by his side.

Raymond is survived by Michele, her children Ryan and Brooke, and his sons Jake and Matt. The family is facing unexpected funeral and medical expenses during this difficult time. Any support is greatly appreciated by the family as they honor Raymond’s memory and navigate this profound loss.
