It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of my beloved daughter who was also a mother, sister, auntie, cousin and friend. Raven Grayer-Richardson, also known and loved throughout Milwaukee as “The Grill Lady,” was a beloved business owner and a powerhouse within our family. She had a gift for bringing people together—not just through food, but through her laughter, kindness, her listening ear, and her genuinely beautiful soul and spirit. Raven lit up every space she entered, and her presence will forever be missed by all who had any contact with her, whether personal, in business, or even as a stranger off the street.

Tragically, Raven passed away unexpectedly after a difficult battle with mental illness. She made the heartbreaking decision to take her own life, and our family was not prepared for this sudden loss. We want to share Raven’s story not only to honor her memory, but also to raise awareness about the seriousness of depression and mental health struggles. No family should have to face this pain alone, and we hope her story can help others who may be struggling.

Raven leaves behind her beautiful 6-year-old daughter, who was the center and joy of her life and world, and a host of family and friends. As our family grieves this unimaginable loss, we are also focused on honoring Raven’s life by raising awareness for mental health and ensuring that she is laid to rest with the dignity, love, and respect she deserves.
