Honoring Ralph Gill: Equip SCCTC Electricity II Graduates
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Teresa, and I am fundraising for the Ralph Gill Memorial Foundation. My father, Ralph Gill, was the Electrical I instructor at Scioto County Career Technical Center (SCCTC) from 1971 to 1992 after retiring from the United States Army. I have many memories of Dad grading papers, looking at schematics, and helping the neighbors and community with electrical issues. It was not unusual for Dad to receive phone calls from students on the weekends to talk. He was a father and friend to many! We lost Dad on December 4, 2007. Many of his former students shared stories about how Dad believed in them and influenced their paths. "Your father made me who I am today. He believed in me when no one else did. He made me want to be a teacher. He taught me everything I know." These were a few of the heartwarming things the students shared with us. Hearing the genuine gratitude from these incredible men inspired me to start the Ralph Gill Memorial Foundation.
The fund provides each graduating student with a starter kit from Klein. Each student will receive one Electrical Pouch, The Ugly Book (Electrical Reference Guide), Lineman Pliers, a 10-in-1 Screwdriver, and a 6-in-1 (Stubby). These are essential tools needed for starting a career in electricity. We hope the kits will give the students a jumpstart in their careers and let them know we believe in them!
The memorial fund can be donated to SCCTC at the following address: 951 Verne Riffe Road, Lucasville, Ohio 45648.
