My name is Rafaela Lozano, known best by friends and family as "Concha." Together with my husband of 41 years, we raised a beautiful family, including 5 sons and 3 daughters. Early on in those 41 years of marriage, our first born daughter passed away tragically, just six months after birth, when I was only 16 years old. Now at the age of 56, after a 5 year constant battle with cancer, our Lord has called on me to join him and my first born in the afterlife. 10/24/1969 - 06/12/2026 †

There are no words that can fully explain the loss and pain our family is experiencing at this time. The matriarch and backbone of our family, our Mom, Rafaela Lozano had the misfortune of battling cancer twice in the span of five years.

Our Mom has been the toughest woman we have ever known and a great example of perseverance. She loved life and fought courageously to see her legacy grow. She wanted nothing more than to help raise her grandchildren. Her kids and grandchildren were the greatest pride and joy of her life. Although her life was tough, she would admirably say “God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers.”

It has been a year since the doctor unexpectedly told us our mother had once again been diagnosed with cancer (a different type than the first); Stage 4 - terminal cancer.

Although our mom had always been a strong woman, who never cowered to anything or anyone, God has ultimately decided her time on earth has come to an end. Although we knew this day would come, that has not made this any easier.

The eldest of thirteen children, she sacrificed an education to help raise her siblings, while our grandmother worked. If you were fortunate enough to have met our mother, you would agree her life was anything but easy, but also that it was through these struggles in life and her own tenacity that made her strong, and made her brave.

Our Mom became a mother at an early age, and gave life to eight children in the span of twenty years. It is undeniable the love our mom had for her loved ones at every stage of her life: first for her parents and siblings, later her children and grandchildren. She wasted no chance to speak proudly of all her loved ones. Our mom was a person you could lean on in difficult times and always willing to help those around her.

It is with a heavy heart, we humbly ask for donations to help cover funeral costs and arrangements. A very small portion of these donations will go to our dad, to help him in his time of need away from work, while he mourns the death of our mother, his beloved wife and life partner.

Mi nombre es Rafaela Lozano, conocida por mis amigos y familiares como “Concha”. Junto a mi esposo de 41 años de casados, formamos una hermosa familia compuesta de 5 hijos y 3 hijas. Al comienzo de nuestros 41 años, nuestra primera hija trágicamente falleció después de sólo seis meses de nacimiento, cuando yo solo tenía 16 años. No existen palabras que puedan expresar plenamente la pérdida y el dolor que mi familia y yo estamos sintiendo en estos momentos. La reina de nuestra familia, nuestra mamá Rafaela Lozano, tuvo la desafortunada experiencia de luchar contra el cáncer en dos ocasiones en un período de cinco años.

Mi mamá ha sido la mujer más fuerte que hemos conocido y un gran ejemplo de perseverancia. Ella estuvo muy enamorada de la vida, y luchó muy fuerte queriendo seguir su legado y ayudar a crecer a todos sus nietos. Sus nietos y sus hijos fueron el orgullo más grande de su vida. Aunque su vida fue muy difícil, siempre decía con admirable convicción: “Dios les da sus batallas más difíciles a sus soldados más fuertes”.

Ha pasado un año desde que el médico nos informó inesperadamente que mi mamá tenía otro cáncer y que esta vez se trataba de un cáncer terminal en etapa 4.

Aunque mi mamá siempre fue una mujer fuerte que no se intimidaba ante nada, Dios finalmente decidió que su tiempo en la tierra había llegado a su fin. Aunque sabíamos que este día llegaría, eso no ha hecho que sea más fácil afrontarlo.

Como la mayor de trece hermanos, mi altruista mamá sacrificó su educación para ayudar a cuidar de sus hermanos mientras mi abuelita trabajaba. Si tuviste la fortuna de conocer a mi mamá, sabes que su vida estuvo llena de dificultades, pero precisamente esas experiencias la hicieron una mujer bien fuerte y valiente - algo que siempre hemos admirado de ella.

Mi mamá se convirtió en madre a una edad temprana y tuvo ocho hijos a lo largo de su vida. Es innegable el amor que sentía por sus seres queridos en cada etapa de su vida: primero por sus padres y hermanos, y después por sus hijos y nietos. Nunca perdía la oportunidad de hablar con orgullo de todos ellos. Mi mamá era una persona en quien se podía confiar en los momentos difíciles y siempre estaba dispuesta a ayudar a quienes la rodeaban.

Con el corazón en la mano, les pedimos humildemente su ayuda con una donación para ayudar a cubrir los gastos funerarios de mi mama. Una pequeña parte de las donaciones será para ayudar a mi papá mientras esté ausente del trabajo. Será difícil pero necesitará tiempo para asimilar la pérdida de su querida esposa y compañera de vida. Les damos las gracias de antemano.
