My name is Lollie Smith, and I’m a student of Professor Luquer. She’s someone who has inspired us all with her strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to be there for her students, no matter the circumstance.
Professor Luquer has been teaching at the College of Charleston since 2018, and it’s clear to anyone who’s sat in her classroom how much she absolutely loves what she does. Her passion for teaching shines through in everything — from the way she explains material to how deeply she cares about each student’s success.
She recently shared with us that she’s having to step away from teaching due to her health. Professor Luquer has been battling Parkinson’s disease, and while we don’t know all the details, we do know that this wasn’t a decision she wanted to make. She’s heartbroken to leave something she loves so much — a job that truly brings her joy and purpose.
Right now, she needs to focus on her health, and we want to support her in every way we can during this incredibly difficult transition.
With permission, Scarlett Hammond and I have come together to raise money to help ease the financial burden that comes with medical challenges and to show her just how much she means to us.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps, and every kind message means the world. Thank you for helping us honor someone who has made such a lasting impact on our lives.
