Our hearts are completely broken as we share the devastating loss of 12-year-old Peyton, the beloved son of Brett and Amanda Rice.

Peyton became very sick with Influenza B and strep throat. On March 3rd, his condition suddenly worsened and he went into septic shock. He was placed on ECMO to function as his heart and on dialysis to support his kidneys. He was life-flighted to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City and given only a 20–30% chance of survival.

Despite the incredible efforts of the medical team and the strength Peyton showed, he passed away the following morning with his loving parents by his side.

No family should ever have to endure this kind of loss, especially so suddenly. As Brett and Amanda navigate unimaginable grief, they are now faced with the unexpected expenses of bringing Peyton home and covering funeral costs. The cost to transport him back home is approximately $4,000, in addition to funeral expenses.
