On November 15, 2025, our beloved mom and nana, Pat Johnson passed away. While her passing was sudden to our family, the weight of her loss continues to be felt every day.

In the immediate aftermath of her death, our family did everything we could to honor Pat with a funeral and service. While those arrangements have already taken place, funeral expenses and the financial burden continue.

Over the year leading up to her passing, Pat faced a long and difficult medical recovery following an amputation and then the recent 8th cancer diagnosis. Our family’s focus was on supporting her healing, emotionally and physically, and we were not prepared—financially or emotionally—for her passing or the costs that followed.

In addition to outstanding funeral expenses, we are now facing a very large Medicaid estate recovery claim that must be resolved as part of closing her estate. This unexpected obligation has placed tremendous strain on our family during an already painful time.

The Medicaid recovery claim tied to Pat’s medical care
