Honoring Papa, Veteran, Father, Grandfather

Tender days with the loss of our hero, our Papa.
No one wants these days to come, and we don't plan for them...
Christmas week in the hospital, we were celebrating Papa's road to recovery and praising his honorable mentality and spirit with the awful realization, he would be living without his 2 legs...
Christmas Eve, & Christmas Day, one visitor at a time, we shared such a good day with papa, cheering him on with our broken hearts all in one breath.
2 days after these 2 surgeries within 3 days, he took a hard turn, ...when just a night before we made jokes, laughed, cried, hugged and loved on one another....
The morning of New Years Eve, the unexpected came upon us, our Papa had passed.
Some might think of their Papa as their grandfather, the father of their mother or father, but Papa was not only a father to our Mother, he raised us kids hand in hand with Mom.
Our memories are joyous, fond, and full of wisdom.
He taught us how to ride bikes, play chess, took us to school, picked us up from school, cared for each and every one of us, as a grandfather, and a father to both our mother and us kids.
When we think of him, we think of home.
❤️
Our mother lost her best friend, we all did, now we all feel incomplete, as most of us do when we lose ones we love....
Papa also a Veteran, serving as a Captain in the Army.
Thankfully they help with the burial, because asking for help is always hard...
We are keeping it simple and have volunteers participating in the gun salute, he will have bag pipes, sharing amazing grace.
We hope to make him proud.
Thank you for your help in advance, humbly, as we prepare...It means more than you know to all of us.
