We had to say goodbye to our beloved Olde English Bulldog, Pako-lolo, yesterday afternoon. He was just barely 5 years old, and it was very unexpected, as he was an extremely energetic and happy guy up until 4 days ago, when we noticed he wasn’t breathing very well and immediately took him into the vet hospital to be seen. They found his throat to be swollen so badly that it was blocking his airway (bulldog breeds are known to have breathing issues, but Pako never showed any signs of having this issue until this day). He was intubated and seemed to be doing okay the first day. The second day, he took a turn for the worse, and they performed a tracheotomy surgery to keep him breathing while we awaited getting him into a surgeon to unobstruct his airways if possible. The third day, he developed pneumonia and had a seizure and was no longer breathing on his own, and he rapidly started declining, leading to more seizures and us making the hardest decision we had to face throughout this week. This hospital stay was not cheap, to say the least (approx. $15,000), and now we’re facing several hundred more just to put him to rest. He deserves a proper place to be remembered and visited, instead of the cheaper option of a communal cremation and not being returned to us. His dad and him were best buddies since the time he arrived to us just weeks old and were absolutely inseparable. If his dad wasn’t in his sight, he sat and pouted until he returned every time. He was so spoiled and very well loved throughout his short 5 years with us. His favorite thing besides Dad was balls, any kind of ball as long as it rolled or bounced, as this was his favorite thing to do: play ball with his Dad and anyone else around for hours, if you would last that long. He got a new ball every single time Dad went to the grocery store (no exaggeration). There is an entire tote filled with all his balls, and he knew exactly which one he was looking for when wanting to play, because of course he had his favorite out of hundreds of choices lol. He was Dad’s sidekick and logo inspiration when Dad started his own towing business last year and loved to ride along any and every time. Anyone who met Pako instantly fell in love with his personality and cuteness, as he was the friendliest dog I’ve ever known and just loved attention and meeting new people to play ball with him. Pako is dearly missed and so very loved. Last night was extremely hard for us, especially on Dad, as he slept with him nightly. Dad is now lost without his buddy and devastated, and it’s completely to see him without Pako at his side. I want to help relieve some of the stress and financial strain this week has created for Dad, as he is now newly diagnosed as disabled and on a fixed income. No longer able to work and live the lifestyle he has always been accustomed to living was already affecting his mental health prior to this week, and now that he just spent his back pay trying to save our beloved Pako, it’s definitely adding more stress and strain and sadness to the situation. I just want to allow him to focus on healing and not have to focus on how we will pay for Pako's final farewell and still be able to pay all the other household bills. Please, if you have the ability to help out in any way, even if it’s only $5 you can afford or just sharing this fundraiser post, any little bit will help. We need to decide and pay for where he is to go for his final resting place ASAP, as he is currently here in our living room resting peacefully surrounded by his blankets with his most recent favorite ball next to him, but unfortunately, cannot stay here much longer. Please help Pako take his last and final ride with his dad today. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you cannot donate, please, please, please share everywhere!
