Our beloved nana, Jonnie, recently passed away unexpectedly after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was 79 years young and truly the heart of our family.
She could light up a room with her overwhelming joy for life. Even in her final hours, she brought smiles and laughter through the tears, something that perfectly captures who she was.
If you were lucky enough to know her, you knew how sassy and funny she was. She was unapologetically herself and had a way of making people laugh no matter the situation. She loved her cats, especially her late cat Samantha, and found so much joy in the simple things that made her happy.
Some of our favorite memories are of her watching NASCAR with her son, spending time in her bowling league with her daughter, and playing Elvis music or watching his movies. She loved being in her garden, teaching us how to do the twist, and was hilariously proud of how much she hated to cook. These little pieces of her life are what made her so special to all of us.
Jonnie now finds herself reunited with the love of her life, Rodger Ferrell, and her beloved cat Samantha, and we like to imagine she’s singing and dancing along with Elvis in Hawaii. While she will be remembered for so many wonderful things, nothing made her prouder than being a mother, nana, and great-grandmother.
She leaves behind her children, Robbie, Cora, Dawn, and Teri; six granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom were the center of her world, because family meant everything to her, along with her extended family, including her sons-in-law and grandchildren’s spouses.
Because her passing was completely unexpected and happened so quickly, our family is now facing unforeseen funeral and celebration of life expenses. We created this fundraiser to help ease that burden on our parents during an already incredibly difficult time.
Any support, no matter the amount, will go directly toward honoring her life and giving her the beautiful celebration she deserves. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page means so much to us.
Thank you for your love, support, and help us celebrate our nana’s life.
