Honoring Our Dad, Shawn Jay Turner

I am Shawn Jay Turner II; Shawn Turner’s youngest child, and his only son. I am organizing this fundraiser for my father who was tragically taken away from us at the age of 59, during a motor vehicle accident on the evening of September 21, 2024, passing away on scene.

Our Dad worked tirelessly to ensure a safe, positive, loving upbringing for my sisters and me in Oakland, California. He exemplified charisma, selflessness, gentleness, an unwavering sense of morality, and a commitment to family and togetherness. He instilled all of those qualities in us, and appreciated each one of us for our individuality.

Dad was highly attuned to people and was a man who appreciated the arts, music, diverse cuisines, sports, and most notably, cars. He was a southern man from the small town of Ferriday, Louisiana with the accompanying hospitality. He possessed an undeniable charm and beautiful personality that left a lasting impression, and allowed for many persons - from many walks of life - to enjoy his company.

Needless to say, my family and I are devastated by our loss beyond belief. He was a father to four, a grandfather to seven, and a companion to many. Because of his deep-seated roots from Louisiana to Oakland, many of us have been negatively impacted by this unexpected tragedy.

My sisters and I are extending the opportunity to anyone who may feel moved to support us during our time of grief. Your generosity will go towards his funeral services in the Bay Area, in addition to a memorial service in Louisiana. We will utilize your contributions to honor our Dad in the most respectful, dignified, and memorable way - the man we have known him to be.
