In the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 5th, our beautiful and talented Dykota Morgan departed this earth. She turned 15 years old only two weeks ago. Dykota was diagnosed with COIVD two days before she died, after becoming dizzy and weak. Her death leaves her family, friends and community devastated and searching for answers.

Dykota was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a cherished daughter, best friend to her two sisters, beloved granddaughter, niece, cousin and friend. She was hailed as a champion athlete, scholar, and leader among her peers at Bolingbrook High School and in her basketball leagues.

Amazingly talented, Dykota was an honors student who was adept in art, science, math and English. She loved history and was a budding learner of social justice and civil rights.  An avid foodie, she enjoyed learning about other cultures and their food customs- she was especially fond of Japanese and Indian cuisine. At the time of her sudden departure, Dykota was awaiting a decision from the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy for the 2021-22 school year. Dykota wanted to pursue a career in law and protect the rights of marginalized people.

Dykota has been one of the greatest blessings that ever touched her family and community, and we want her story and her legacy to live on and be an inspiration to others.

Dykota is greatly missed, but she made a lasting impact on anyone fortunate to know her and her story during her brief life.
