In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Grandmother and Mother Carmen Iris García Jácome
May 8, 1946 – December 22, 2025

With a heavy heart, we want to notify our loved ones and friends that Abuelita has passed away. We will be collecting funds for the memorial expenses. Any donations, no matter the amount is truly appreciated.

We are gathering not only to mourn her passing, but to honor and celebrate a life that meant everything to us. Our grandmother was the heart of our family; the best friend, grandmother, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and wife anyone could ever hope for. She was a woman defined by love, generosity, and a heart so large it embraced us all.

She gave without measure. Whether it was her time, her care, her wisdom, or even the dollar she would gently place into your hand, as only grandmothers know how to do, she always gave without hesitation. Her love was constant, selfless, and unconditional.

Her smile had the power to light up any room. It brought warmth, comfort, and peace. She loved music, especially romantic classics like Charlie Zaa, and those melodies will forever remind us of her tenderness and grace.

And there was truly nothing, absolutely nothing, like Grandma’s cooking. From her unforgettable pescado en escabeche, to the best rello de papas anyone has ever tasted, to her soul-healing soups and her delicious teriyaki chicken, every meal was an act of love. Through her cooking, she nourished not only our bodies, but our hearts.

She was filled with wisdom. She always had words of advice to share, and when words were not needed, she was there in silence, steady, present, and comforting. She faced many hardships and struggles throughout her life, and still she chose strength. She chose positivity. She chose to move forward.

She found joy in gardening and truly had a green thumb. Just as she lovingly cared for her plants, she cared for her family with patience and devotion, helping each of us grow in our own way.

There was nothing like eating Grandma’s food.
There was nothing like a Grandma hug.
There was nothing like lying beside her, feeling her soft skin, and knowing you were safe.

And today, above all else, we say thank you.

Thank you for the sacrifices you made, many of which we may never fully know.
Thank you for the love you gave so freely.
Thank you for the lessons, the comfort, the laughter, and even the silent moments when your presence alone was enough.
Thank you for showing us what true strength, kindness, and unconditional love really look like.

Your legacy is immense. You live on through your children, grandchildren, and more than 30 great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of you within them. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we promise to continue honoring you, to speak your name with love, and to live in a way that reflects the values you taught us.

We love you deeply, Grandma. Thank you for everything. You will live forever in our hearts, until we meet again. ❤️
