With the deepest love and the heaviest of hearts, we are introducing our surprise baby, Imogen Adalaide Pena-Perry. The same day we welcomed her into this world, we had to say a heartbreaking goodbye as she was taken from us far too soon.
Throughout all my pregnancies, I never could have expected our healthiest-feeling one would end so tragically and quickly. Imogen was a little kicker; I felt her every day like clockwork, and we poured so much love into preparing for her arrival. I made her a blanket with teddy bears so she would be covered in love. Her sisters kissed my belly every day and told her how much she was loved. We were excited to have a matching pumpkin patch outing for the fall and to set up her nursery. My husband Detrick even made me chilaquilas whenever I asked for my biggest craving.
We kept this pregnancy private to ensure a time of peace and joy for our family. The excitement to welcome our newest member was profound, which is why it shatters us to now share the news of her loss. At 34 weeks, with no leaks, her fluid suddenly dropped to a critically low level. Despite the incredible care she received from the medical team and the prayer services we held, things began to decline. We had her baptized shortly before her passing, and she spent her last moments being held in my arms as she listened to my voice and her daddy's.
Our worlds have been turned upside down. While we navigate this unimaginable pain, we must also arrange a funeral and manage expenses after being out of work. We are reaching out to our community for help to give our little girl the service she deserves and to stay afloat during this impossible time. If you are able to help, any donation would mean the world. If you cannot donate, please just share this post to help us reach others. Your support allows our family to mourn the loss of our baby girl and keep our three children together as we try our best to heal.
