It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Janene Mathis. Affectionately known as Nene.

On January 18th, Nene was admitted to the hospital due to complications related to lupus. Our family remained hopeful and continued to pray during those long and difficult weeks. Despite the efforts of her medical team and the strength she showed throughout her battle, she experienced no improvement and passed away on February 23rd.

Nene was a beautiful soul, strong, loving, and deeply devoted to her daughter, Anaiyah Johnson. Being Anaiyah’s mom was her greatest joy and purpose in life. Everything she did was for her daughter, and the love she had for her was unconditional and undeniable.

Her passing has left an unimaginable void in our family, especially for Anaiyah, who now faces life without her mother. During this incredibly painful time, we are asking for support to help cover funeral and memorial expenses. We also want to ensure that Anaiyah is supported in the months and years ahead. Any funds raised beyond funeral costs will go directly toward her care, including daily needs, school expenses, and future support.
