Honoring Neil CarlinSchauer

Donation protected
It is with great sadness that on December 2nd, Neil CarlinSchauer passed away in a crash at the Nemadji Forest-American Rally Association race. Neil’s untimely departure leaves a large void for all who knew him, especially his mother, Erin, stepfather, Gregg, and sister, Kyle.

I met Neil 4 years ago. At the time, he was living with my now fiance, Nick Goble, and I quickly learned the two were a package deal. Fortunately for me, Neil was Neil - quick to befriend you and so easy to love. With the blessing of Erin, Gregg, and Kyle, and to ease the burden on Neil's immediate family, I've offered to set up and manage this GoFundMe page, and 100% of the funds raised here will be gifted to Erin Campbell.

Through his short 32 years of life, Neil touched an immense amount of people while living to the absolute fullest. Neil cared deeply about everyone around him as a son, brother, friend, colleague, confidant, and enthusiast. Neil brought passion to everything he did and impacted many people's lives in the process. Neil would, quite literally, give you the shoes off his feet, lend his car to run an errand, or drop everything and go out of his way to help - just to make your journey a little easier.

Neil was blessed with a large family filled with loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who have shared many memories of fun adventures with Neil throughout his life from childhood and into adulthood. Neil is fondly remembered as incredibly welcoming to new family members and valued quality time with those he loved - often the first to arrive and last to leave a family event.

Neil will be remembered as thoughtful, driven, witty, generous, funny, welcoming, infectiously optimistic, fearless, and independent. Neil collected friends, passions, and talents throughout his life, including hockey, improv, Haunted Basement, triathlons, music, rally, school, traveling, work, and so much more, including his beloved cat, Mr. Pants. Neil would often talk to anyone who would listen about something he had picked up an affinity for. Neil would quickly connect with anyone - for Neil, no one was a stranger.

Neil’s family wanted to express their gratitude and support for everyone who took part in filling Neil’s life with love and adventure. They want to specifically extend a note of support to Neil’s co-driver, Tim Kohlmann, who spent many hours working with Neil on cars and driving alongside Neil during every race. They wish him a full recovery and privacy as he's healing.

Neil's passing has deeply saddened us all, and the sudden nature of his departure has left his family overwhelmed and with many unforeseen expenses. In their time of mourning, we all want to help, so any contribution or sharing of this page would be greatly appreciated. Any funds remaining after expenses are covered will be donated to causes close to Neil’s heart and passions.

The incredible outpouring of support has humbled Neil’s family, and they wish to extend their appreciation to everyone who made Neil’s life fuller with their presence.
