On March 24, 2026, our family experienced an unimaginable loss when my sister, Joely, passed away from aggressive stage four cancer, just three and a half weeks after her initial diagnosis. Her illness progressed so quickly that we barely had time to process what was happening, and her passing was both sudden and deeply heartbreaking. She was a beloved sister, wife, and friend, and her absence leaves a sudden void that I cannot describe.
Her last wishes were simple but deeply meaningful: she wanted to be cremated with her most cherished possession, her childhood teddy bear Rosie. We are planning to honor her by spreading her ashes in some of her favorite places that held special meaning for her. There will be two memorial services, on in Texas, on May 2 (details below), and one in our hometown of Moundville, Alabama in late June of this year, more details to come.
We are reaching out to our community for support to help cover the costs of cremation, memorial services, planting a tree in her honor, and travel for family members to attend and fulfill her final wishes. Any help is greatly appreciated by our family and her husband Drew as we come together to honor her memory and say our goodbyes. Thank you for your kindness and support during this difficult time.
