Our Family Lost So Much — Now I’m Trying to Rebuild
When I was just 14 years old, my life changed in a way I could never have prepared for.
My sister passed away after a long and painful battle with stage four cancer. She fought incredibly hard, not only for herself, but for her four young children, who were all under the age of five. She wanted desperately to be there to watch them grow up.
Watching my sister fight for her life while knowing how much she wanted to stay for her children is something I have carried with me ever since.
Then, just a few days after losing my sister, I lost my mother too.
My mother was already dealing with serious health complications, and the grief of losing her daughter was devastating. In what felt like an instant, I had lost two of the most important people in my life.
I was only 14. I was grieving, confused, and trying to understand how life could change so completely in a matter of days.
At the time, a GoFundMe was created in my name to help me through what had happened. Unfortunately, those funds were never used to support me. As a child, I didn't have the knowledge, resources, or support to understand what had happened or do anything about it.
Why I'm Asking for Help Now
Years have passed, but losing my sister and mother at such a young age shaped so much of the life that followed.
I'm older now, and for the first time, I feel able to speak for myself and ask for the help I wasn't able to ask for as a child.
I'm trying to rebuild stability in my own life, but this isn't only about me.
My sister left behind four children. They had to grow up without their mother, and I have never forgotten the promise her life represented to them. I want to be in a position where I can support them and make sure they know that they have not been forgotten.
I cannot change what happened to our family. I cannot bring my sister or my mother back. But I can try to build something better from everything we survived.
That's why I'm here.
How Your Donations Will Help
Funds raised through this campaign will help me rebuild a stable foundation after years of emotional and financial hardship. Donations will go toward essential living expenses while I work toward greater independence and long-term financial stability.
A portion of the support will also help me assist my sister's four children with needs such as school expenses, everyday necessities, and other areas where I am able to help.
More than anything, I want this campaign to give our family some breathing room and an opportunity to move forward rather than continuing to be defined by what we lost.
Carrying Their Legacy Forward
My sister was more than the cancer she fought. She was a mother who loved her children and wanted nothing more than the chance to stay with them.
My mother was more than the grief and health complications that took her from us. She was our mother, and she gave so much of herself to her family.
I want their lives to be remembered for that love.
And I want my sister's children to grow up knowing that even though their mother is no longer here, there are still people willing to stand beside them.
Asking for help isn't easy for me, especially after everything that happened when I was younger. But I know I cannot rebuild everything alone.
If you're able to donate, no matter the amount, I would be deeply grateful. If donating isn't possible, simply sharing this campaign with someone else could make an enormous difference.
And if all you can offer is a prayer or kind thought for our family, that means something too.
Thank you for reading my story. Thank you for remembering my sister and my mother with me. And thank you for giving me the opportunity to create a different chapter for myself and the children my sister left behind.
Every donation, every share, and every prayer brings us one step closer to rebuilding what we can and carrying their love forward.
