My nana was the heart of our family and touched so many lives. She worked for AT&T for over 50 years, and her dedication to her customers, coworkers, and her dogs was something everyone admired. She did Rover for years, and people always commented on how much she cared. To me, she was more than a grandmother—she raised me like a mother, was at every softball game, and truly was my best friend. She loved football, cooking, and spending time with her coworkers and old girlfriends from work. Her love for bingo and sharing meals always made her smile, and she brought so much joy to everyone around her.

Recently, my nana faced an incredibly tough battle. She spent 42 days in the ICU, enduring constant abdominal pain and undergoing three surgeries in just the first four days. Despite her strength, she passed away yesterday. Now, as we try to plan a service and cremation to honor her, we’re also facing the reality of being out of work and needing to move things out of her house. It’s overwhelming, both emotionally and financially.
