My mother was born on March 15, 1980, in Lomé, Togo, West Africa. She faced many challenges early in life, leaving school to pursue her passion for cooking. Her talent and determination led her to become an international chef, cooking in Nigeria, Ghana, and beyond. Eventually, she met my father, and together they worked hard for a better life. Through perseverance and faith, they were granted a visa to come to America, where she continued to build a loving home for me and my little brother.
When she arrived in America, my mom discovered a new passion for braiding hair. She became well-known in our community for her skill and kindness, always treating her customers like family. She was more than just a mother—she was a friend, an auntie, a sister, and a best friend to so many. My favorite memory of my mom is how, despite her own struggles, she always put her children first. She worked tirelessly to make sure we were cared for academically, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. Her love and dedication knew no bounds.
Sadly, after nearly four years of bravely battling cancer, my mother passed away due to complications from surgery. The pain of losing her is immense, but I want to honor her memory by giving her the farewell she deserves. We are raising funds to help cover her funeral expenses, which will take place on December 12th and 13th. Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to our family as we say goodbye to someone so special. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts and for helping us celebrate the life of an incredible woman.
