For the last three years, I have been my mother’s primary caregiver as she battled advanced liver failure and dementia. I moved her to Los Angeles so I could personally oversee her care, advocate for her in hospitals, and ensure she was not navigating this journey alone.
Caregiving at this level changes everything.
Over the past three years, I have poured my time, energy, finances, and stability into making sure she was safe and cared for. In the process, I lost my job, my car, and much of my financial foundation. I do not regret choosing to care for my mother — but the cost has been profound.
We are now transitioning her into hospice care.
Her current nursing facility can no longer accommodate her needs, which means we must explore private-pay hospice options to give her the dignity, privacy, and compassion she deserves in this final chapter. She deserves peace. She deserves to be comfortable. She deserves to be honored.
This fundraiser will help cover:
• Private-pay hospice placement and care
• Cremation and final arrangements
• Transportation so I can be with her daily during this time
• Outstanding medical-related expenses
• Basic living expenses as I transition out of full-time caregiving and work to rebuild stability
In Los Angeles, hospice support and private placements can cost thousands per month. Direct cremation typically ranges from $1,000–$1,700 locally, with memorial services adding additional costs. Daily transportation to see her without a car can total $60–$90 per day. These expenses add up quickly.
I have carried this responsibility quietly for years. At this point, I cannot do it alone.
If you are able to contribute in any amount, it will directly support my mom’s comfort, dignity, and a peaceful transition. If you are unable to give, sharing this page means just as much.
Thank you for helping us honor her life with care and compassion.
With gratitude,
