My grandma, who became my legal mom when she adopted me at 16 in California, was an extraordinary woman—a beautiful piece of art, a remarkable angel, and someone who was stubborn, feisty, and tough loving. She lived an incredible 105 years, 5 months, and 1 day, having been born on August 12, 1920. Even in her younger years, she cared for her parents, showing her deep sense of responsibility and love for family from an early age. Throughout her life, she was devoted to her family and spent over 70 years as a restaurant owner, always working hard to provide for those she loved. Despite being widowed three times at different stages of her life, she remained strong and resilient, always putting her family first. She outlived all her siblings except for her youngest brother, a testament to her remarkable longevity and spirit. We were inseparable—she always lived with me, and we shared countless adventures, traveling together and making memories that I will cherish forever. She even survived breast cancer in the 1990s and, remarkably, spent her last ten years without medication or serious illness, only dealing with arthritis. Even at 105, she was doing physical therapy and remained strong and determined until her last breath. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by me and two other family members, after a long, joyful life filled with love, laughter, and even the occasional michelada in her 100s. Her happiness and zest for life touched everyone who knew her, and her legacy of strength and kindness will live on in our hearts. Now, I want to honor her with a respectful burial and service that reflects the incredible life she lived. Any support—whether through donations, sharing this fundraiser, or kind words—means the world to me and our family as we say goodbye to a truly remarkable woman.
