My “dad” was actually my grandfather, but he stepped into the role of my father and became the true pillar of our family. He was the steady presence we leaned on, the quiet strength that held us together, and the example of love and humility that shaped who I am today.
He passed away last week after being diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer. In his final week, I was blessed to travel back and forth from San Diego to be by his side and help care for him. That time with him is something I will always carry with me.
This loss has been especially heavy for our family. We have faced cancer before with other loved ones, and the emotional and financial toll has been significant. My aunt, who has been handling the legal arrangements, is also recovering from cancer herself, so I am stepping in to help shoulder some of the responsibility during this incredibly difficult time.
My dad was a dedicated and hardworking man who showed up for us in the most humble ways. He believed in faith, in love, and in doing what was right even when no one was watching. He inspired my commitment to serving others from working with children, to pursuing wildland firefighting, and pursuing my goal of becoming an EMT/Paramedic. He lived a life of quiet service, and I hope to carry that legacy forward.
I am organizing this fundraiser to help cover the costs of his cremation and a small memorial to honor his life. We want to give him the peaceful and meaningful goodbye he deserves.
If you feel moved to support us, any contribution no matter the amount, would mean more than we can express. If you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser or keeping our family in your prayers is just as appreciated.
Thank you for helping us honor a man who gave so much love to everyone around him.
