On February 6, 2026, we unexpectedly lost our dad, Michael Edward Johns, known to many as MJ, and to some as MJeezy.

Our dad was the kind of person who never met a stranger. He had an unforgettable laugh, a magnetic personality, and a way of making everyone feel seen and important. Music was his heartbeat, R&B, funk, house, Prince, he carried rhythm in everything he did. In his younger years he could pop and lock with confidence, and that love for music and joy never left him. If you knew him, you likely have a story about him, a joke he cracked, a conversation he made meaningful, or a laugh you’ll never forget.

As his children, we are navigating this loss while adjusting to life without him. During this transition, we are facing many responsibilities and changes.

We are creating this fund to help support our family during this time and to contribute toward Elijah’s college education, something our dad deeply valued and always supported.

Our father showed up for people without hesitation. If you feel moved to support our family during this time, we are incredibly grateful. If you’re unable to give, we simply ask that you share a memory and keep his spirit alive.
