Honoring Mitch “Long Balls” McDowell

Hello, my name is Kris McCormack. I am raising funds for the family of Mitch McDowell. Mitch was an amazing and special human being. Anyone who was fortunate enough to get to know him, knew his passion and love for the game of golf. He lived to play and loved to compete. He was a grinder and a range rat, all in an effort to perfect his craft. Despite having ALL the talent it requires to be successful, Mitch left us before he got over the hump of claiming his first professional win.

For those out there that don’t know, the life of an aspiring golf professional isn’t what we see on TV with the PGA Tour. Rather, it is a life of long days, hard work, learning opportunities, and heartbreak. Most of us give up, never pushing hard enough to reach that next level. Not Mitch. He had that “something special” the rest of us wish we had. Following his dream was one of his most admirable qualities. Much like his quick wit, freakishly vast knowledge of all things pop culture, endless dialogue of movie quotes, and his uncanny ability to make everyone he met feel like family….. or awkwardly uncomfortable….. depending on his mood. Despite all his hard work and positive attributes, Mitch put everything he had into his dreams. Sadly, when he passed, he wasn’t in a financial position to cover all of the expenses that are starting to appear.

My objective with this honorary fund; is to help elevate some of the financial burden from his mother and family. Prior to his passing, Mitch had spent time in the hospital with kidney issues. Unknown to all of us, including his family, was the severity of those issues. It was kidney failure that ultimately took him from us long before his time. It happened without warning, and with no opportunity to plan for what ultimately came to be the reality of his passing. Please, help me to help his family in their time of need. There is no insurance policy. No 401K. No savings for a “what if” scenario. He was my brother, like so many others who loved him. Please help to show his family how much he meant to all of us.

Thank you all. Be safe and healthy.
