Honoring Missy and Bear's Sacrifice

Neighbors helping neighbors. As many of you have already heard, a suspected murderer of 3 people downstate came to Berwyn targeting a neighbor on the block of 18th & Home Ave. Police responded to reports of a man with a gun. The gunman broke into a home on 18th & Wenonah, fleeing from police. The homeowner and his son found the gunman in their basement. Many shots were fired; the son was sent to get his mom and siblings out of the house, who fled to a neighbor's. Their two dogs, mother Missy and her baby Bear Bear, defended their family and were ultimately shot and killed in the process. They died heroes, probably distracting the gunman from killing the homeowner. I'm in tears just typing this. The police are holding the dogs' bodies to retrieve the bullets before releasing them to the family for cremation. Times are tough for many, especially at the holidays.
