Hi, everyone. It's Lauren, Mike's daughter here and I'd like to share an update on dad.

The last few days have been a whirlwind of emotion and I am having a hard time finding the right words to use.

On Sunday, daddy was brought to the emergency room by mom for some weakness and overall not feeling well. Unfortunately, it turned into much more than that. Daddy’s heart was showing an abnormal rhythm and that he was in heart failure which in turn began effecting his other organs and putting them into failure as well. They planned to complete a cardioversion on Tuesday afternoon to help shock his heart into a normal rhythm. Daddy and his body had other plans. Unfortunately, Tuesday morning daddy went unresponsive and ended up needed resuscitation, which led to also needing to be intubated and placed on a ventilator. At that time, we as a family made the difficult decision to withdraw care and place dad on comfort care at that time to make sure he was not in any pain and was as comfortable as we can make him, especially after 3 years of the constant pain he has felt.

As of this morning, we have officially signed daddy onto hospice to allow him that peace and comfort we wish he has been able to have all along. All who knew my dad, knew how strong willed and determined he’s been through everything he’s faced, especially with his cancer diagnosis, so we decided it’s time for us to be strong for him and allow him to have his grace, dignity, and more importantly, his comfort while we can allow him that.

Please pray for our family at this time as this is the hardest things we have ever had to do as a family.

At this time, we are asking for any help we can receive for our family to give daddy the best after he’s ready to go and be free from this painful life he’s lived. All mom and dad have known is paying for medical support for dad and I’d love to allow them a chance to rest and be worry free.
