On behalf of the Shanahan family it is with my deepest condolences to make this post about my friend Mike Shanahan .
My childhood friend Matt Shanahan lost his father in a tragic accident. He was 1 of the 12 that was on his way to his 23rd tandem jump.
He was a humble human and a very dedicated native to the city.
He loved his friends and this man worked very hard.
Mike Shanahan worked in Kansas City Sheet Metal Union Local #2 for 36 years! Putting in a hard days work was never a question for him! I remember how much pride he took in his work just by listening to him. He talked about working on MCI and excited for his retirement.
Yesterday this family lost someone special. His son and daughter-in-law are heartbroken and 6 of the best kids lost their only papa. He wasn’t just your average papa. He was THE papa. The papa you called when you wanted to go shopping. The papa you called when you just wanted some guy time. The papa who made things happen. The papa who took you and did things that most people would say no to. The papa that came to almost every single game even if it meant spending his entire weekend in the gym. The papa who came to every school event. The papa who should have but never said no. The papa who made sure whether you like it or not he was going to be apart of every aspect of his grandkids life.
I’ve watch this man give what he didn’t have to help others and I’ve watched him love harder than most. The world lost an amazing man yesterday. I have no other words than please keep these children and this family in your prayers because this man will truly be missed.
All the proceeds raised from this GoFundMe are set up to go to Mike Shanahan’s son Matt Shanahan to help with funeral costs and whatever they need in this time. Thank you
Please for any further questions or inquires on how to help this family please let me know.
