Honoring Miguel & Irma's Service to Our Community

Donation protected
For 30 years, Miguel and Irma Martinez Alvarado have been pillars of our community in San Francisco, CA, leading the Xiuhcoatl Danza Azteca group, and providing healing and hope through ceremony and dance. Their leadership has brought together hundreds of youth and adult dancers from across California and Indigenous nations, along with international healers, and local community groups to bring attention to social issues, uplift joy, and share in community building. Miguel and Irma have been partners in life and love for nearly 50 years. As this next phase of their life unfolds, we call on our community to support them through a difficult and loving transition. As we know, medical and life expenses continue to pile up because of and despite the circumstances, yet we are confident that the love and service they have shared with us, will return. Funds raised by us will be used to cover those surmounting expenses, including medical costs and to ensure Irma can keep the home they've built. We humbly ask our extended family - you, in the spirit of community care, hope, and healing, to participate in this journey with them and contribute what you can. Please share widely and give generously if your heart is called to it.

Like the resounding beat of Miguel's drumming, may the spirit of your contribution be carried far and wide.

With gratitude and mucho corazon,

The Martinez Alvarado family.
