The Lewis family is heartbroken by the recent lost of Melvin Lewis (Mebs) one of the crankiest, funniest, most spunky humans you could ever meet. He was the kind of person who could make you shake your head and laugh in the same breath, someone whose stubbornness was matched only by the size of his heart. He was unapologetically himself, and we all loved him.

What many people don’t know is how much he struggled internally, behind the scenes. He had no life insurance, and by the time the family tried to secure coverage for him, his illness had already progressed too far for any company to insure him. Everything possible was done to provide him comfort in his last days, but the disease took him sooner than any of us thought.

The family are now faced with unexpected funeral and end-of-life costs that the family simply cannot manage alone. The family wishes to honor him properly, to give this loud, loving, wonderfully stubborn man the dignity he deserves as we all say goodbye.
