If you've ever spoken with my dad, even just once, you probably remember it.

Mauricio Corredor is the kind of man who could talk to you for hours… and still hang up the phone two seconds later without warning (if you know, you know). He's always known right from wrong and carries that clarity into everything he does, with kindness, conviction, and love.

He loves a good action movie, especially if it's a Western full of guns or stars Jackie Chan doing things he could only dream of doing. He'll talk your ear off about anything - faith, politics, philosophy, martial arts, or how diapers are made.

But more than talking, he's always been an incredible listener. He actually cares about what you're saying and asks thoughtful questions to understand you more deeply.

He has planted love wherever he has gone his whole life; with family, friends, coworkers, church, inmates (through his volunteering), and more. Love and generosity of spirit are what he's known for the most.

In April 2022, my dad had a nearly 12-pound tumor removed. Since then, he's undergone aggressive chemo and handled it better than anyone expected, though not without cost. Through it all, he's never once given up. He's fought with quiet strength, like an oak tree - sturdy, grounded, and deeply faithful, just like his dad.

Now, as his body begins to rest, we're preparing for what's ahead. My dad feels at peace, certain of where he's going. His only worry is for my mom. He doesn't want to leave her with the financial burden of this final task.

Many people have asked how they can support us from afar. After careful thought, we created this space for anyone who feels moved to help. Any donated funds would be used to cover:

- Basic burial or cremation and funeral expenses (just like him: no fuss, all heart)

- A small, joyful celebration of life with good food, shared memories, and certainly ice cream

- Anything left over will help to cover any related expenses for my mom during this transition

We're not expecting anything. However, if he's ever offered you advice, made you laugh, prayed with you, or simply listened when you needed someone, and you feel it in your heart to give, we accept your support with the deepest humility and gratitude.

Si alguna vez hablaron con mi papá, seguro lo recuerdan.

Mauricio Corredor es el tipo de hombre que puede hablar con uno por horas… y aun así colgar dos segundos después. Siempre ha sabido distinguir el bien del mal, y lleva esa claridad y rectitud en todo lo que hace, con bondad, convicción y amor.

Le encantan las películas de acción, sobre todo si son de vaqueros y tienen pistolas, o si sale Jackie Chan haciendo cosas que él solo soñaría con hacer. Puede hablar sin parar sobre cualquier tema: la fe, la política, la filosofía… y en especial de cómo se hacen los pañales.

Pero más allá de hablar, siempre ha sabido escuchar. Le importa lo que uno está diciendo, y hace preguntas para entender más profundamente (bueno, quizás no tanto durante adolescencia de sus hijas… pero ¿quien lo juzga, no?). 

Ha sembrado amor durante toda su vida: con su familia, los amigos, compañeros de trabajo, en la iglesia, con los presos (a través de su voluntariado), y muchos más. El amor, la generosidad de espíritu, y su rectitud moral son lo que más lo define.

En abril de 2022, a mi papá le quitaron un tumor de casi 12 libras. Desde entonces, ha pasado por una quimioterapia agresiva y la ha sobrellevado mejor de lo que nadie esperaba, aunque no sin consecuencias. A lo largo de todo esto, nunca se rindió. Ha luchado con una fuerza impresionante, como un roble: firme, enraizado y profundamente fiel, tal como lo fue su propio padre.

Ahora que su cuerpo comienza a descansar, nos estamos preparando para lo que viene. Mi papá se siente en paz y seguro de hacia dónde va. Su única preocupación es mi mamá. No quiere dejarle la carga económica de esta última etapa.

Muchas personas nos han preguntado cómo pueden apoyarnos desde lejos. Después de pensarlo bien, creamos este espacio para quienes quieran brindar un apoyo adicional. Los fondos donados se utilizarán para cubrir:

Gastos básicos de entierro o cremación y funeral (como él: sin complicaciones, pero con corazón)

Una pequeña y alegre celebración de su vida, con buena comida, recuerdos compartidos y con toda seguridad, helado

Si algo llega a sobrar se usará para cubrir cualquier gasto relacionado para mi mamá durante esta transición

No esperamos nada. Pero si alguna vez él les dio un consejo, los hizo reír, oró con ustedes o simplemente los escuchó cuando lo necesitaban, y sienten en su corazón el deseo de ayudar, recibimos su apoyo con la más profunda humildad y gratitud.
