Dear family and friends,
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Matthew Zheng. Matt was an amazing and loving friend, brother and son whose presence has touched us all.
In his 25 years with us, Matt has fostered a passion for many things - including a love for music, animals, games, and mentoring kids in his community. Matt was a valued member of many community music programs and involved in music mentorship, and tutored students across the county. As a talented musician, Matt endeavored to share his love for music and the performing arts with others. Matt also held a soft spot for animals. He loved spending time with and caring for all the animals in his life. His joy, playfulness, and gentleness when he was around animals was always evident.
These are only some of the many things that made Matt so loved. Matt was patient, deeply kind, and always willing to help those around him. His quiet, steadfast, and unwavering care for others was cherished by all, and we will miss him dearly. We hope that Matt’s influence will live on through some of the things he cared most for.
Any funds raised will be contributed towards OrchKids, a program dedicated to improving access to youth music education in Baltimore, a place Matt used to volunteer at. Funds will also be allocated towards a bench in Matt’s memory for his local community dog park where he loved to take his dog, Luna. More information about these causes can be found below.
Thank you for helping us honor Matt’s legacy. We know that his light carries on the brightest in those he loved and love him.
OrchKids provides Baltimore youth with equitable access to community-based, high-quality music instruction and programming that teaches musical and social skills transferable to all areas of their lives. https://orchkids.org/
