My partner, Martin Marin, was 37 years old and had a beautiful heart. He loved people deeply, was always caring, and never judged anyone. We shared ten years of our lives together, having first met through his brother, who was my best friend. From that moment, we just connected and fell in love. Together we both built a strong foundation that never gave way—it may have had a few cracks in it, but no one's perfect. We stuck by each other through thick and thin, through the bad and the good, and if I had my option I would do it all over again with him, and I know he would too.
Anyone who knew Martin knew him as a joyous bundle of love—always laughing, always joking, always talking crap to somebody. But behind the sarcasm and behind the jokes, it was nothing but love. A love that was endless and knew no boundaries. He also had so much love pouring into him from a mother who brought him into this world, a dad who wanted to be a dad to him, six beautiful brothers and sisters that I’ve grown to love, a godson who is now a young man, cousins and uncles who will miss him, and, lastly but never least, his friends who were an extension of his family. One thing about our friends is that we were there for each other just like family. We may not have had it all, but together we had an abundance of everything we needed. We stuck by each other, worried about each other, fought with each other, but we always loved each other. I know deep down inside Martin loved us all the same—never one more than the other.
What brings me to GoFundMe is the need for help with the cost of Martin's services. We are honoring his wish to be cremated, but even with that, there are still many fees. I spent the last four years caring for him, making sure he was comfortable and had a roof over his head. His illness eventually took over, and he was ready to rest. If I could do it alone, I would, without hesitation. I would spend every last penny to make sure he had a beautiful service. But this service is not just for me or for him—it’s for everyone who knew and loved Martin, so they can say their last goodbyes.
Any and all money raised through this GoFundMe will go directly to Martin's funeral services. It will cover everything from cremation, urn, flowers, church services, document fees, cemetery fees, and casket. None of the funds will go to me or the family—every penny is for Martin's services. Martin was always there for others, giving what he could to help anyone in need. Now, as his loved ones and community, I hope we can come together to support him one last time and help him find peace and comfort.
Service date, time and location will be available soon. If you'd like more information about how you can get more involved with Martin's services, you can message me directly using the contact button. Thank you to all his loved ones and all that support us. God bless.
