Mark F. Papworth was born September 13, 1950 in Portland,Oregon to Bonnie and Dennis Papworth. He attended Russellville elementary school and graduated from David Douglas high school class of 1968.

Mark was an easy-going young man and had great friends with which he shared many adventures with. Mark love to work on cars, boats and motorcycles. Growing up he and his brother Bart would ride the hills of Utah together. His pride and joy is a 1968 Chevy Coupe, which he won several trophies and ribbons at local car shows for.

Mark also had a knack for storytelling and would willingly share them at gatherings. If you ask most people, this is what they remembered most about him and loved to hear. Mark spent a few years working in Utah at his father Dennis’s custom meat market with his younger brother Bart. Mark then worked over 30 years in the tire recapping business for various companies recapping semi truck tires. While Mark was only 5’5 he could stack tires 10 high he also had his own landscape maintenance company for a few years and ended his working career with Freightliner where he worked alongside his son Eric. Mark and his wife Sue were married on February 14, 1990. They had over 31 years of love and being each other’s great partners, supporting each other‘s interests making a home for Marks son Eric.

Mark and Eric shared a love of hunting and motorcycles. When a deer or elk was taken, Mark was the one who would gladly help with butchering. Growing up, Eric and Mark would spend weekends dirtbike riding. In the last few years, they were both members of the bearded rejects motorcycle law-enforcement club. He enjoyed participating in club rides and charity events. This is where Mark became involved with Journey Up.

Journey Up is a nonprofit organization that….
Mark was especially proud of being the escort for the bus with other club members around the Portland/East County area, picking up donations from various locations for local children that needed help.

in Lou of flowers, we know it would please mark beyond words if donations were made towards Journey Up. Journey Up was his way of supporting the kids in communities that needed a little extra. Things like hygiene products, backpacks, school supplies and weekend meals. Just recently due to Covid we have been helping teens who already have started their journeys such as sports, band in 4H with things they need but can’t necessarily get on their own. Mark was quick to help with our Vincent functions. His hellos and hugs lit up any room and he is terribly missed. We will be putting together a grant in his honor so his legacy continues. He was a servant of compassion to the kids in the Gresham in sandy areas. Thank you for helping us honor a man that is irreplaceable, live on in the things we supply for the kids in our community.
to see your support and contributions be put to great use in Marks name like and follow Journey Up and Bearded Rejects LEMC Facebook pages.
