My partner of nearly 27 years, Mark, passed away yesterday morning at just 50 years old. It was sudden and unexpected—a heart event that took him from us as he was getting ready for work. Our adult daughter found him and tried to revive him, and the paramedics did everything they could. Despite their efforts, we lost him, and now there is a massive hole in our family. Mark was an endless fountain of support and love. He was my best friend, and we loved each other just as we are. Our story together was beautiful, profoundly wholesome, and full of joy. I cannot tell you what a joy it is to have had a life partner who loves you just as you are and feels that same love in return. I love you, Mark. Our daughter and I will continue to make you proud and share your art with the world. Mark is survived by his sister, me, our daughter, and my extended family. He loved art and music, and we will be holding a service at Dixon Galleries in Memphis, TN, to display his artwork as a celebration of his life and his love. The costs include the venue, pamphlets about his life, food and beverages, framing his art, and flowers. The world lost a war veteran, an artist, and an exceptional man who fought for and believed in equality. We are devastated by this loss and are reaching out for support to help cover funeral expenses and the costs of honoring Mark’s memory. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help us celebrate Mark’s life and legacy. Thank you for your kindness and support during this difficult time.
