Honoring Marion Hilliard's Loving Legacy

Dear Family, Friends, and Kind-Hearted Associates:

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the untimely passing of Marion “Chick” Hilliard, the beloved husband of Angela Herring-Hilliard. Marion was not only a dedicated, committed, and cherished spouse, but also a son & son-in-love; brother & brother-in-love; uncle & friend; and “daddy” to their German Shepherd fur babies Kojo and Luna, and Nate and Drake (who already crossed the Rainbow Bridge). Marion brought so much joy and light to all who were fortunate to know and love him. From helping strangers on the side of the road to rescuing stranded cats from the tippy-top of trees—Marion believed in paying it forward. He truly will be deeply missed!

You may have been his schoolmate at Florida High; or took swimming lessons from or with him at the FAMU/Jake Gaither Gym pool. Some might remember Marion as the Marching 100 mascot when he was young, collecting their plumes after performing at Bragg Memorial Stadium; or maybe you were in the Jack & Jill Teen Group with him. He may have pruned your trees and foliage—the profession that he absolutely loved; or if you close your eyes, you can hear his voice and see those big, brown eyes as he cracks a joke and breaks out into roaring laughter. Whatever your relationship or interaction with Marion was, you were blessed to know and love him.

As Angela and the entire family come to terms with Marion’s passing, they are faced with the difficult task of arranging his final farewell and celebration of life. They want to have the dignified and heartfelt send-off Marion deserves; unfortunately, the financial burden of funeral expenses is overwhelming Angela during this very challenging time.

Friends of Marion and Angela are reaching out to our community—far and wide—for support in honoring Marion’s memory. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help to alleviate the financial strain, thereby allowing Angela to focus on grieving and remembering her husband fondly.

Funds raised will help to pay for the expenses associated with the funeral and mortuary services, repast costs, and proper memorial tribute to the life Marion lived. Your generosity will be so meaningful to Angela and the family. It will help to ensure Marion is laid to his eternal rest in a manner befitting such a vivacious, energetic, and kind soul, as he truly was a gift to the world.
