Honoring Marine Nelson Rodriguez's Final Wish

I’m making this GoFundMe for our brother Nelson Rodriguez who passed away on January 15, 2025. He was a Marine veteran who served from July 28, 1972, till February 27, 1977, when he was released on honorable discharge. He was a proud aviation mechanic and very intelligent. Unfortunately, after returning from Vietnam, he was never the same. He suffered from PTSD, anxiety, depression, and seizures for many years. While his health was deteriorating, he sought out a nursing home where he spent his last 14 years. I visited my brother once a week to assure him he was not alone. During these visits, he was happy to share with me that he renewed his faith in God, which gave him hope to continue with his life. Nelson also expressed how much he would like to have a military burial as he believed once a Marine, always a Marine, and the military would take care of him. He began to develop dementia, which became severe around November 2024, where he had to be hospitalized and bedbound. I can’t help but remember how passionate he was about having a military burial. After he passed, I’ve been informed that the military does not pay for funeral costs but will pay for the cemetery service and headstone. I would like to fulfill his wishes he expressed to me while he was of sound mind to have a military burial. With that being said, I’m asking for your help. The cost of the funeral will be $7,200, which will cover all costs and fees. Also, if anyone has information on any veterans' foundations or non-profits who may assist in helping us cover funeral costs, that would be truly a great blessing.
