Today, with heavy hearts, we are celebrating the life of Maria Theresa Loera. Wife, mother, aunt, cousin, and sister, Maria Theresa, were all of these, and so much more, to the many lives she touched here in Weslaco and beyond.

For those of us who knew and loved her, the memories we hold are rich and warm. We remember her as a truly good cook, someone whose kitchen was a place of comfort and delicious aromas. Her generosity knew no bounds; she was a big giver, always ready to offer support and a helping hand to anyone in need.
Maria Theresa had a spirit that radiated positivity. She was incredibly social, her smile was infectious, and she seemed to always be in a good mood, brightening the days of those around her. Her love extended beyond people to the animal kingdom, and she found enjoyment in the classic stories of Western shows. She also had a keen eye for the past, cherishing her collection of antiques and a gift for bringing stories to life. And let's not forget her green thumb – her garden was undoubtedly a reflection of the care and attention she gave to all things she loved.

As a mother, Maria Theresa was a pillar of strength and guidance. She successfully navigated all three of her children through their college years, a testament to her dedication and support. More than that, she diligently prepared them for the future, equipping them with the tools they needed to thrive. Her commitment to education continued through her successful 34-year career as a teacher, where she undoubtedly impacted countless young lives in our community.
There are so many small but significant moments that capture the essence of Maria Theresa. Who can forget her enthusiastic "Yahoo!" whenever she heard good news? It was a joyful exclamation that embodied her zest for life. She was a constant presence in the lives of her children, attending every school event and sporting competition, a steadfast supporter on the sidelines and in the audience. Birthdays and holidays were always made more special by her presence, her joy adding to the warmth of these family gatherings.
Her daughter Priscila holds dear the memories of the times they spent substitute teaching together. These shared experiences, navigating the school day side-by-side, undoubtedly created a special bond and unique understanding between them. For her daughter Blanca, a favorite memory was the simple yet profound act of attending church together, a reflection of the spiritual foundation Maria Theresa nurtured in her family. She encouraged all her children to attend church and give their lives over to Jesus Christ, a testament to her faith and her desire for their well-being. Even the everyday moments held special meaning, as her son Elias fondly remembers their grocery shopping trips, where she always indulged his love for chips.

Maria Theresa's life was one of love, support, and unwavering presence. Her impact on her family, friends, and community here in Weslaco is immeasurable. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and a deep love for those around her.

As we say our final goodbyes, let us remember the joy she brought into our lives, the support she so freely gave, and the love that will continue to live on in our hearts. May she rest in peace.
Finally, in keeping with Maria Theresa's generous spirit, the family asks that you consider donating what you can in lieu of flowers.
