On June 21, 2026 - Father's Day - Simon, Jonathan, and their beloved three-year-old daughter, Margot, experienced an unimaginable tragedy. While having Father’s day lunch together on a restaurant patio, a driver crashed their vehicle into the patio, causing catastrophic injuries. Surrounded by the love of her fathers, Margot passed away. No parent should ever have to endure the loss of a child. No family should ever have to face such profound heartbreak while also navigating physical recovery, mounting expenses, and an uncertain road ahead.

At just three years old, she filled every room she entered with joy. She loved coloring, getting her nails done, rainbows, butterflies, and spending time with her beloved dog, Mac. She was observant and witty beyond her years, sweet to everyone she met, and almost always wearing a smile. Her happiness was contagious. She was a bright light in the lives of her family and friends, bringing laughter, warmth, and love wherever she went whether she was pretending to be a monkey or a koala that day. Those who knew Margot will remember her for the joy she carried so effortlessly and the love she gave so freely. Her absence leaves an immeasurable void, and she will be deeply missed every day.

As Simon and Jonathan face the days ahead, we are creating this fund to help ease the financial burdens resulting from this tragedy. Donations will help cover funeral and memorial expenses, medical bills from the injuries sustained in the accident, and legal costs as they work through the many difficult challenges that follow such a devastating event. But most importantly it will help with another part of this story that was especially close to Margot's heart.

For the past two years, Simon and Jonathan have been on a long and deeply meaningful surrogacy journey in hopes of growing their family. Margot was thrilled by the idea of becoming a big sister. She dreamed about sharing her love, her laughter, and her big personality with a younger sibling. One of the ways we hope to honor Margot's life and spirit is by helping their family continue that journey. Surrogacy is an emotionally and financially demanding process, and this tragedy has created additional burdens that no family could have anticipated. A portion of the funds raised will help preserve the possibility of continuing the family-building journey that meant so much to them - and especially, to Margot.
