Honoring Mama Vasati's Legacy of Love

With a heavy heart, I announce the passing of my cherished 89-year-old Mama, Vasati Bird. Her life, filled with love, laughter, precious and countless memories, will be deeply missed. A strong and God-fearing woman with unwavering faith, she raised me from a baby and has shaped me into the person I am today. Her legacy of love, kindness, caring, and welcoming may uplift me every day and give me the strength to continue on and honor her life and legacy.

Growing up, my Mama didn’t have much, did not attend any schooling, but she taught me great life lessons and nurtured me to who I am today. If you had the pleasure of meeting her, you could rest assured you would be given one or two life lessons, and she would pray over you and hug you so tight and always end by saying, “Bless you, son/daughter.”

Mama passed peacefully at Harbor UCLA Hospital in Carson, CA on March 20, 2025, at 3:26 pm, taking her last breath, smiling at me with a teardrop down her face. At that moment, in my heart, I knew for sure she was ready to go to be with her maker.
