Hello, my name is Karolyn Taylor, and I am the mother of Makayla Mendez.

It is with deep sorrow that I share the tragic and unexpected loss of my daughter, who passed away on April 24th at approximately 3:30 a.m. as the result of a senseless act of violence. She was taken from us by someone she trusted her boyfriend.

Later that same day, around 11:30 a.m., a detective came to my home and informed me that my daughter was gone. In that moment, my entire world changed.

Makayla was a beautiful soul who was deeply loved by her family, friends, and everyone who knew her. Losing her has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled.

During this incredibly difficult time, I am humbly asking for support to help cover the costs of her funeral and burial services. Our goal is to raise $12,000 to give Makayla the proper and dignified homegoing she deserves
