Honoring Lupe, Supporting Al

On June 27, 2025, My grandparents (Lupe Samaniego & Elbert Paz) faced a nightmare no one should ever have to endure — a fire broke out in their home. Together, through incredible strength and love, they helped each other escape the flames.

Though they both made it out alive, my grandma suffered severe burns and heartbreakingly passed away the following day at the burn center. Her strength in those final moments showed exactly who she was: brave, loving, and deeply devoted to her family and husband.

My grandpa survived and is still in the burn center recovering from burns and the trauma of losing the woman he built his life with — as well as losing their home and all their belongings in the fire.

We are asking for help during this incredibly difficult time. Donations will go toward:

• Funeral and memorial expenses to honor Lupe

• Medical costs and recovery support for Al

• Replacing essentials lost in the fire (clothes, medications, personal items)

• Long-term housing and care support once Al is discharged
