Celebrating Luna's Spirit: Support for Her End of Life Care
Donation protected
Our magical little Luna-
an otherworldly creature, a lovely spirit of the earth, and my companion passed on to her next form under the light of the full Flower Moon. Her passing demanded attention as she was always gentle yet gracefully assertive. Her heart gave out one last song, a beating drum until her spirit
(who unsurprisingly was so much bigger than her small body)
flew up above us - expanding to wrap me up completely,
and continues to bloom into everything.
The years we spent together were beautiful
Walking through this life with a little coyote dancing around my ankles,
was like having a golden shadow - what a gift
Her guidance is ongoing,
her spirit dances in the air we breathe,
I hear her in the wind
I see her in the night sky-
How lucky we all are to know a soul like hers.
We were able to have a ceremony to honor her vessel at home before her cremation. Her body was blessed with creosote, sage, roses, hibiscus, strawflowers, mugwort, and all of my tears to water the flowers that rested on her fur. As I cried over her body the creosote began to smell of desert rain, the plant spirits of our home were with us. Just as I had prayed they were there to welcome her with open arms, and carry her on into the great mystery of what is next.

Luna’s end of life care was sudden and extensive. We are so happy that she was able to live all 12 years of her life so happily. The day before she passed she quickly fell ill and was rushed to the first vet that would see her. The doctors informed us that her health was in critical condition and that the procedures they recommended would ease her pain and save her. Luna’s life meant so much more than contemplating financial cost or burden. I signed wet papers and passed on credit cards so they could start their work as soon as possible.
The surgeries were deemed successful and Luna was able to come home with us that same night. Her body was tired, and her spirit was released from her pain in the early hours the next morning. If anyone feels called to contribute to her care fund it is deeply appreciated by myself.
Sending love to all who knew and loved her as much as I do.
