Linnette Rice Lehrer (Theresa Linnette Rice) passed into the Lord's embrace on the 27th of October, 2025.

She was the mother of two sons, and the grandmother of four grandchildren. A sister, and an aunt.

Years ago, she decided to change her life and went back to school. At CPCC, she went through their culinary arts program and used that education to go to sea with Edison Chouest Offshore and eventually made Head Steward.

8 years ago, she gave up her life at sea to help take care of her mother, who we had just found out had been diagnosed with cancer. After her mother's passing, she spent most of her time helping at a local dog obedience trainer.

In recent years, she developed a love for knitting. Enjoying in the simple repetition and how it can yield tangible results.

We learned of her diagnosis of brain cancer when she was rushed to the ER with stroke-like symptoms. She was quickly diagnosed as having seizures, and and MRI was ordered, revealing two brain tumors. Over the course of the following four months, she fought hard, enduring multiple round trips to Duke Cancer Center, radiation treatments, immunotherapy treatments, and the news that none of it had worked as well as hoped, so the decision to move to chemotherapy was made. Unfortunately, by the time financial assistance was approved and the medication shipped, it was already too late. The medicine delivered within hours after she passed.

In the end, we take comfort that she fought how she wanted. And we respected her wishes, allow her to pass gently as she slept.
