My daughter Emily recently experienced a life-changing event that has deeply affected our entire family. On February 6th, she, her medical alert service dog Link and her 9-week-old baby were involved in a car accident. While we are incredibly thankful that the baby was miraculously unharmed, Emily suffered serious injuries including breaking both of her hands and requiring reconstructive surgery on three places on her right hand. The most heartbreaking part of this tragedy was that Link, her specially trained service dog, did not survive the accident. Link was more than just a companion, he was Emily’s lifeline, he dedicated his life to her well-being.

We are now hoping to raise funds to help Emily begin the process of finding and training a new service dog. The money raised will go toward traveling to pick out a puppy and putting down the deposit so the puppy can start their specialized training for Emily’s specific needs. Any additional funds will go towards the remaining balance due when the new dog is ready to come home and travel to pick up the new dog. This support will help her regain independence and safety as she recovers from her injuries and adjusts to life without Link.

Our entire family has been heartbroken by the loss of Link. Everyone that ever met him agrees that he was the most incredible dog and his devotion to Emily was unmatched. We know that Link would want nothing more than for Emily to continue to be cared for in his honor.
