Honor Lily: the daughter of their heart
Donation protected
In November 2014, David Spicer and Amy Malone-Spicer traveled to China, where they met the “daughter of their heart”, Lily. The then 7-year-old had a pixie-like face with striking freckles and a wide smile. Like them, Lily was Deaf and had already learned some Chinese Sign Language. She could also write her name and a few words in the Hanzi characters she learned at the school there. David and Amy brought her home with them to America, and after a brief adjustment, Lily began first grade at the school for the Deaf where David worked. She quickly picked up American Sign Language; there are many treasured video clips of her creative, expressive use of ASL. As she grew, Lily became known for her amazing artistic talent, her love of anime, and her fashion sense. Even with all the light that Lily shone into the world through her talents and friendships, she struggled with severe depression.
David and Amy, along with all who were lucky enough to know Lily, are mourning her loss, but for them, it is the loss of the daughter of their heart. Funds raised from this page will allow them to cover the considerable funeral costs and cost of living expenses especially when Amy and David are not able to work due to severe emotional distress.
