Hi, my name is Antareo. On September 5, 2024, my wife Cami and I tragically lost our two-year-old grandson, Liam, due to complications from chemotherapy. In early December 2023, a CT scan found a large cancerous tumor in his kidney area called neuroblastoma. He was receiving very tough chemotherapy treatment to shrink the tumor before it was eventually removed. Unfortunately, he needed to continue treatment so the cancer wouldn't come back. Well, after finishing his last round of chemotherapy and his last stem cell transplant, the chemo made his liver develop a disease called VOD. The disease caused his liver to swell up three times the normal size. It literally covered his entire stomach. His kidneys also stopped working properly, and he had bacteria in his blood. Liam was rushed to the ICU where he had to be intubated and a breathing tube put down his throat. Liam fought for well over 30 days and was slowly getting better. Then, out of nowhere, everything went wrong on September 5th, and he passed away as the doctors and staff worked on him for over 30 minutes. I can't go into details because it was so sudden and tragic.
Liam fought through so many surgeries, blood transfusions, platelet transfusions, chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, being sick, and obstacles. He was so full of life, love, happiness, joy, energy, and so intelligent. You would never have known he was going through all he went through and fighting cancer.
I documented Liam's journey on social media, and he touched so many people's lives. Everywhere Liam went and every person he met, he left a lasting memory.
We already had Liam's celebration of life and burial. We decided to create a GoFundMe to help purchase a headstone for Liam's grave. Also, our lifelong mission is to figure out ways to keep his memory alive, so we are also accepting donations to go towards the funding of different projects. One is a professional YouTube documentary of the impact Liam had on so many people. The second documentary is to share our story in detail of our journey with Liam and what we went through.
