Christmas morning, our family’s world changed when my grandma, Leslie “Cookie” Proctor Griffin, suffered her third stroke and was taken by ambulance to OU Medical Center.
After many tests and conversations with doctors, therapists, a social worker, and the chaplain, a temporary feeding tube was placed. This option was only sustainable for a short time. After much prayer and careful consideration, our family made the difficult decision not to place a permanent feeding tube, as it would not improve her quality of life and would only prolong her suffering.
We have now chosen to begin comfort care and transition her to hospice, where she will be in a more peaceful setting and our family can gather to be with her.
We are asking for help with end of life expenses, including hospice care, cremation, and memorial service costs. Any support, prayers, or sharing of this fundraiser is deeply appreciated as we ask for peace and comfort for our sweet granny during her final days.
With love and thanks,
Layla Estraca
