Lieutenant Commander Robert Lee McKitrick, Supply Corps, United States Navy (Ret), "Bob," my father, passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2025, with Mickey, his wife of 47 years, at his side. He was 98. He lived a long, meaningful life, and it was his final wish to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. As his family, we want to honor his memory and ensure he receives the respect he deserves for a life well-lived. His interment is scheduled for Monday, March 30, 2026, and we are working to make the ceremony as special as possible for the dozens of attendees from all across the nation.
We are raising funds to cover guest transportation to and from the cemetery, as well as a few extra touches to make the day truly memorable, and we're keeping them under wraps for now. These elements will help create a fitting tribute to Bob's legacy and provide comfort to those who loved him. If we receive additional support, those funds will first go toward funeral expenses already covered by my step-mother, Mickey, and after that, as a donation to Oxon Hill United Methodist Church, the church that meant so much to both my dad and Mickey.
As it was my father's final wish to be buried at ANC, it is our wish to pay homage not only to his service to our country, but also to his inspirational life and indelible spirit. Thank you so much for your time and consideration. My family and I are forever grateful for whatever help you may consider.
